the torrents of light and dark
from the surface boundaries set
but down below the battle ensues
a war leaves none unharmed
swirling dark and light collide
washing over the hearts of man
following the path of least resistance
the water courses demanding choices
is it the ying and yang
a little of both is what resides
in each human soul and heart
the facade that all present
appearing to be true and steadfast
not choosing the black or white
but under the surface dwells
all that is forever only gray

Thanks Kellie! I am indebted to you for encouraging me to stretch my boundaries as an artist and writer. Could not do that without FWF!
Thank you for that kind compliment. I am happy to know that I am able to inspire your pen. ♥
Very intriguing poem here, Mark! Neat that we both took part in the challenge 🙂 I have always wondered about the origins of the phrase, “ying and yang”…
Thanks Christy! I never know where FWF will take me but it is always interesting.
We both chose poetry for this prompt…yours is so much more indepth than my simple micropoetry. Really enjoyed your piece
Thank you Annie! Your was equally brilliant in how simply it captured a mystery. Loved it!
A wonderful write, Mark! Great lines in this, but I think you nailed the underlying current of the problem with this line: “appearing to be true and steadfast”. Appearing being the key word. People put on appearances, and the truth is of little concern. Steadfast… a thing of the past.

Thank you Charles, very kind words indeed. Much appreciated.
Outstanding, Mark! Been out of the loop for a couple of weeks but will get back on track!
Thank you Sharla!
