It is Day 2 of National Novel Writing Month (50,000 words in 30 days) and I am off to a good start, at least I am believing that! Having just finished writing and posting a poem a day during the month of October for #OctPoWriMo, wasn’t sure how many words I might have left in me for November.
I will endeavor to share some excerpts from the novel I am writing, sentences that jumped out at me. Bear in mind these are unedited, the result of free writing as the ideas flow and are put down on paper in my effort to reach the goal of 50,000 words by the end of the month.
“The soul is a magical and mysterious place and the scars this life leave on it are unseen by most human eyes. This gift was something I had never asked for but my mother had said, I had simply been chosen.”
“The gift of seeing the pain of someone’s soul and the blood that continually dripped from the wounds that others and this life had inflicted, was both a blessing and a curse. I carried within me the torture and ache that each person endured.”
“Approximately twenty-five yards behind her, I knelt down in the shadows of a doorway and raised my rifle. I felt the firmness of the stock against my shoulder as I pointed the barrel in her direction.”
The above lines are from the prologue, much more to come! If interested visit the NaNoWriMo site, it is not too late to join! ~M
