Poem #1 for  #OctPoWriMo

Floating on the morning’s silent calm,
in the gentle moments before dawn.
A stillness creeps across the floor,
there are feelings I can no longer ignore.
As the new day emerges from the night,
in my heart I search for joy’s delight.
A new day of responsibility and obligation,
carrying a torch for future generations.
There are mountain peaks to ascend,
and long-held desires that transcend .
Behind my closed eyes I behold adventure,
the promises of love’s true venture.
The sun’s beautiful flashing sparks,
soon will carve the cold dreary dark.
Soft colors of a flower’s petals run,
chasing the golden glow of the sun.
My heart forever beats in true abandon,
a dance with yours in time and tandem.
My eyes slowly open and sleep is erased,
and I smile as I stare into your peaceful face.

This poem was inspired by my beautiful wife and the following quote, “Be like a flower and turn your face to the sun.” – Kahlil Gibran.  This is poem number 1 of 31 during October, where you are challenged to write a poem a day for October Poetry Writing Month.
