Jittering Expectations

The jittering expectations silently descend
From those moments we’d like to forget
Of past holidays with which we must contend
Emerging from behind our heart’s torn curtain
Our aching hearts inside will tumble-down
Grace is restless in our plausible denial it’s certain
For we stand alone in our hallowed loneliness
Surrounded by the chaos of celebration
A soul aching for connections of sweet bliss
The present reality may herald promises to come
From those moments we’d like to recall
As steady beats the hope of love’s unending drum

With the Thanksgiving holiday tomorrow here in America, I find myself feeling somewhat lost and almost plodding, thus this is where the words to this poem come from.  Like I am out of step, my thoughts jumbled and confused. Although the feeling lingers, I rest in the assurance and hope that tomorrow may always be better than today.  The holidays although joyful and full of celebration always make me somewhat melancholy and full of ‘jittering expectations’ for what may come.  Thanks for reading, here’s to wishing you only the best.  ~M A Still Point #2

A Thanksgiving Eve Poem

Twas the day before Thanksgiving, and all through the field.Turkey Face
Every turkey was scurrying, unwilling to stop and yield.

The moon shone bright, as visions of stuffing danced in their heads.
They gobbled as they ran, for this was the night they came to dread.

For tomorrow would soon come, and their fates would be sealed.
With mashed potatoes and trimmings, their glory’s revealed.

What are you thankful for?

Turkey Dreams

Thanksgiving is only 2 weeks away!

wpid-wp-1415931216150.jpegIn early November
our thoughts turn
to dreams of turkey.
With grateful hearts
and joyful thanksgiving,
we wait in anticipation dreaming of turkey.
Stop and listen!
For something turkey this way comes!
A delicious bird
cooked golden brown
oh, the turkey dreams.
Not a thought is given
to his ultimate demise,
he now lives on only in turkey dreams.

Be Grateful

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower. ~Albert Camus

Happy November,  focus on your blessings this month. What are you grateful for? I challenge to you to come up with one thing everyday that you are thankful for.

I will start. I am thankful for my family,  and a wife that always goes above and beyond what is expected.  ~M

Simply Being Thankful!

Thanksgiving 2013The twisted road we travel

On the journey of life

Comes a time it unravels

Black and white

Dark and light

Mystery blinds our sight

Things we chose to ignore

Focused on what is within

We could see so much more

Yellows and blues

Reds and greens

So many other hues

Gratitude rises at the beauty around

Simply being thankful

In heaven a joyousness resounds
