There are hundreds of bible verses about death, promising a blessed hope after this life. We joke, we ignore, and we trivialize death at every turn. If our physical death is inevitable for each of us why do we so often refuse to acknowledge it?

For centuries throughout history, death has always been a big deal… after a person has died. Ornate ceremonies and trappings to celebrate the life of the one who has died. Fancy carriages like the one above, now hearses, that carry the dead body towards a final resting place. Coffins that are spectacular in their craftmanship that only serve to rot in the ground or burn up in the fire.

And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it. ~Ecclesiastes 12:7
For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. ~Romans 14:8
And everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this? ~John 11:26
The last enemy to be destroyed is death. ~1 Corinthians 15:26
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. ~Matthew 5:4

These are only but a few of the many bible verses about death. It is coming for all of us. Do you believe in the one who conquered death?

The only one who died and rose again was and is Jesus Christ.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. ~John 3:16

Have you placed your trust and faith in him? Death is coming for us all, what then?

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” ~John 14:6

Are you? Am I?

And should we be?

If so, are we frightened enough?

Do we believe that evil does hunt us?

Do we believe that the evil can be defeated?

Halloween seems an innocent time of fun, candy and make believe, but is it? There is an evil that lurks behind the masquerade of scary good times. For the evil has cloaked the darkness in light so our eyes are blinded to the true intent. For in the shadows evil plays out its sinister plots to bind the hearts of men and we are oblivious to the reality.

I pray for each soul that believes this day is only innocent fun.

I pray for all on this day, All Hollows Eve, where evil walks among us unknown.

I pray for all safety from the plans of those who reside only in darkness.

I pray that our eyes will be opened to the fact that dragons do exist.

I pray that we pick up the sword of the spirit and defeat the dragons in the name of Jesus Christ.

America – Forgotten Echos of the Past

The American Bison is a true original and its image takes us back to a seldom remembered past when they roamed freely over the land prior to their decimation almost to extinction at the hands of man. In this image from my goal was to capture the simple beauty, strength and majesty of this truly magnificent animal.

So much of history is lost to the echoes and which version of history depends on who is telling it. Each side has an agenda in which the truth can easily get lost. We forget that we all are from somewhere and traveling our paths around this spinning green ball hurtling through space and time.

We lift up people for one good act then tear them down for one bad one. We admire the thought and criticize the action that follows.

If we were to measure the worth of every human being on whether they never fell short, all would fall short. Only Jesus Christ walked this earth not committing a sin. We lie to others, hiding the truth even from ourselves that we would never do such a thing. For we are better than them. Are we really?

Aren’t we all just sinners, and don’t we all need saving? That is where our commonality lies, that it is only by grace that we can find healing.
