Do you believe in Santa Claus?

Santa – work in progress, pastels on grey paper, 4×6 inches postcard

I believed in you
In hope and wishes
In dreams come true

I wandered for years
My faith did wane
Until seeing it clear

Searching the sky above
I once again believe
The greatest gift is love

I am not talking about the jolly fat man in the red suit who slides down chimney’s on Christmas Eve. I am searching for the true meaning of Christmas. What it means to be selfless and giving, humble and kind. The world would be such a better place if only we could make this Christmas thing last all year-long and not just for a few weeks in December. We so easily put everything back into boxes on December 26th and go back to our selfish self-righteous ways. When love, grace, mercy and hope are needed everyday of the year. I wish every one of my readers a very Merry Christmas and may you be blessed each day. ~M

Do Angels Dream?

Late in the night the only light,
shines from the forsaken Christmas tree.
Each forgotten little sparkling white light,
each twinkling ornament a piece of our history.
Silently time seems to stand,
slipping gently from my hands.
The past and future intermingled,
with immeasurable joy and sadness.
Forever lost yet moments still to come,
are tempered with a longing gladness.
Memories of moments that had been,
I realize now never to come again.
Each memory and thought is seen on every night,
not just a forgotten and melancholy Christmas eve.
Still the question remains, do angels dream?

It’s Christmas Time!

image

It’s Christmas time
From rainy overcast days
To forever blue skies
And clear sunny days

It’s Christmas time
Towering evergreens stand tall
They cover the land
Where snow scarcely falls

It’s Christmas time
Upon the mountain peaks
Lying in silent repose
Their transcendence we seek

It’s Christmas time…
In the Pacific Northwest
