I think that if I become a horseman,
I shall be a man on wings.

“In the Flow” – A Twitter Art Exhibit donation for 2015

In the Flow

“In the Flow”       Watercolors 4×6 inches

“In the Flow” is my postcard art donation to the Twitter Art Exhibit for 2015 where all proceeds benefit the Home-Start Moss, a nonprofit organization helping families in need in Moss, Norway. Home-Start believes that every child deserves the best start in life. By matching experienced volunteers to families with young children, Home-Start provides support that is free to the family, confidential, and based on individual needs.

Twitter Art Exhibit: Moss is the fifth installment of an open international exhibition of handmade postcard art for charity, donated by hundreds of participating artists from around the globe. Thanks to David Sandrum and the TwitterArtExhibit board members Maria Pedrero and Nat George, for tirelessly promoting this fantastic event.  Follow along on Twitter for updates, @twitrartexhibit and be sure to visit the Twitter Art Exhibit website for all the details and to view all the art once the exhibit goes live on March 1st.

“Through art we can change the world.”

Sketches

image_1Worked on some preliminary pencil sketches for future art projects, including larger drawings and paintings.  Just messing around this weekend with movies and the football playoff game audio on in the background, while recovering from my week-long sickness.  It is so nice to be feeling better.

One of these sketches most likely when finalized will be my submission for this years #TwitterArtExhibit. I gotta get busy!

Below are a couple of the same images after messing around with the phone editing tool Snapseed!

Turkey Dreams

Thanksgiving is only 2 weeks away!

wpid-wp-1415931216150.jpegIn early November
our thoughts turn
to dreams of turkey.
With grateful hearts
and joyful thanksgiving,
we wait in anticipation dreaming of turkey.
Stop and listen!
For something turkey this way comes!
A delicious bird
cooked golden brown
oh, the turkey dreams.
Not a thought is given
to his ultimate demise,
he now lives on only in turkey dreams.

Just having some fun!  Wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving and don’t stress too much about the preparations as most likely it will all work out in the end, so enjoy! Now, what are you thankful for? ~M

A Cow’s Nightmare

Quietly standing along the fence at twilight
The setting sun casts yellow flames silently down
They silently watch as the cars disappear out of sight
Days are spent grazing in fields of green clover
Content in hopes of more lazy days ahead
Clumsily they lay down and sometimes roll over
No worries, no cares, living completely unaware
As something wicked and evil this way comes
They think not even a thought of what to wear
But some know that cows are haunted by a dream
Visions of demons hysterically waving gleaming steel
The cows search idly for what it all might mean
Warnings are unheeded as All Hallow’s Eve approaches
A feeling of dread covers the land in wicked whispers
Upon the heavy mists malevolence slowly encroaches
Bipeds in startling white coats walk out of the dark
Staring evilly into the cows eyes revealing a glimmer
A crashing boom rings into the night sending sparks
They feel a thud and everything goes suddenly black
Falling to the ground in the final throes of death
Warm blood flows from the humans’ frenzied hacks
Revelations in dreams for cows come early and then too late
A grisly fate is upon them and their end has come
And they are now only steaks and cheeseburgers upon a plate

A Cow's NightmareA little bit horrific and humorous in honor of Halloween being only a week away, as even cows can have nightmares of evil things! 🙂 This is also a link up to Hastywords for her 31 Days of Horror! And my 24th poem for the month of October, #OctPoWriMo!

The Human Zoo

What’cha gonna do? What’cha gonna do? What’cha gonna do?

When they come for you!

To lock you up in the human zoo!

Who dat? Who dat? Who dat?

We are locked in cages!

Stifled, chained and inside a box for ages!

What now? What now? What now?

Chickens hold tightly our chains!

We moan and cry, as we shower in the rain!

How’s this? How’s this? How’s this?

Slopping through the dark days!

Left alone and betrayed, what ever is left to say!

What the …? What the …? what the …?

Our lives incomplete and hopeless too!

We wake to find ourselves forever locked in a human zoo!

(Poem #6 of 31, for #OctPoWriMo, just having some fun cause poetry doesn’t always have to be serious. Don’t let them catch you!)
