they all say grief is grey. but it’s not. ~Charis Emily
Standing at the precipice of unimaginable loss, Mark W. Schutter found himself facing the abyss of pain, death, and grief as a young man.

Witnessing his first wife’s battle and death from cancer over 30 years ago, he was thrust into a profound search for meaning. It was his unwavering faith that became the guiding light, helping him navigate through the darkest times. This journey has shaped faith, his life, and his belief in hope.
“The pain I feel now is the happiness I had before. That’s the deal.”
~ C.S. Lewis
Rooted in the breathtaking landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, Mark draws inspiration from the land, nature, and its people. His poetry, featured in numerous publications, delves into the universal pain we all endure and the resilient hope that can rise from it. He is hard at work on a forthcoming book based on the bible verse Job 2:13. He hopes it will be beacon for those who are grieving and seeking solace and understanding through faith.
Now, in the embrace of a new chapter, Mark has been happily remarried for many years to a woman he calls the most beautiful and strongest he has ever known. Together, they cherish the joy of raising a spirited daughter who keeps his heart young and vibrant. When not supporting others or writing, Mark finds peace and adventure in horseback riding and mountain biking.
Mark believes in the ripple effect: touch one life, and you may touch the world. Sharing the journey, no matter how brief, is a precious gift. His mission is to share the joys, the sorrows, the hope, and the healing, inspiring others to live fully despite the grief we all carry. Through faith, there is “life after…“ and Mark invites you to explore this journey with him.
Reach out and connect—together, through faith, we can find the light that illuminates the shadows.
