A Trees Yellow Light

in the middle of a dream

i woke in the night

finding myself cold and alone

under a trees yellow light

 

looking up i can barely see

glorious rays penetrate my mind

i am lost in memories embrace

when faith is hard to find

 

dancing leaves speak softly

the breeze gently calls my name

reflections of a future yet unwritten

knowing i will never be the same

 

for long ago i walked

where angels fear to tread

the ghosts rattle in the dark

visions live long thought dead

 

out of the dark i crawl

anxiety and fear i’ve carried along

shedding the past into the light

at rest finally where i belong
