In the darkness before the beginning was a light
From out of the mysterious dark He came
He dispels the myths that man created
Those that fear the verdict hold the darkness close
For when the light shined evil understood it not
It revealed the hidden deeds and malevolent intent
≈

He was and is the source of life anew

≈
A light that forever banishes the darkness
Calms pounding hearts amidst frightening memories
From stories told of yesterday and generations before
He carved the day from the black dark of midnight
Sending ripples of loves pure light into hurting hearts
A hope for all mankind across the eternities

This poem, #25 for the month, was loosely based on the prompt from OctPoWriMo 2014 site to write about something that scares you.  I was further influenced by the following bible verse – The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. ~John 1:5, so I wrote this from the perspective of what scares the darkness.  Enjoy! ~M
