Homesick
I wander, I run, I walk
Towards something that pulls me forward
I wonder, I see, I perceive
After the fall of dark over the land
The trails, the roads, the paths
Lay before me like an endless sea
Waves crash, winds blow, rain falls
My journey, my desires, my life
I venture, I search, I hope
Discovering the glory in the pain
A destiny, a promise, a dream
Moments are captured and stored in eternity
I feel, I cry, I laugh
I search for a place I have never been
I struggle, I fall, I rise
To journey forward despite the obstacles
I sit, I listen, I receive
I step outside my mind and feel the earth beneath my feet

  1. Oh Mark — this is lovely … I found myself falling into the journey as you wrote. This is my favorite part:

To journey forward despite the obstacles

    I sit, I listen, I receive

I step outside my mind and feel the earth beneath my feet

    1. Thanks so much Annie! I had know idea where this one was going when I started writing, but the idea emerged as I went, guess that is why it’s called free writing!

  2. I was taken by the structure you used and found it quite interesting to take in each trio of thought!! Your closing line is really dimensional…stepping out of mind onto earth! Great write!

  3. To keep moving forward, to keep learning, to keep growing no matter the obstacles. Love this. 🙂

  4. heartfelt, evocative writing.
A piercingly strong ending too. Love these closing lines.

    I sit, I listen, I receive

I step outside my mind and feel the earth beneath my feet

  5. Love this:
    “I feel, I cry, I laugh

I search for a place I have never been

    I struggle, I fall, I rise”

How very poignant in its simplicity. Keep moving onward ♥
