the house hangs in the air

silent, the wind is now still

broken memories scattered on the floor

the chaos hangs thick

tired and torn

weathered and worn

battered and bruised

forgotten and forlorn

a house once a home

only ghosts haunt the halls

hiding in a dark corner

of my broken mind

  1. Funny how a house, a structure can hold so much of you inside. How it becomes a limb of who you are and who you have become. Reminds me of a piece I wrote of my childhood home. Lovely writing, Mark.
